ENGLEWOOD, Fla. (WWSB) - An Englewood man is accused of fatally shooting another man during an argument Sunday night, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded shortly before 9:30 p.m. to a home in the 9400 block of El Campo Avenue after a 911 caller reported a shooting.

Deputies found homeowner Frank John Voight standing next to an unresponsive man on the garage floor, the sheriff’s office said. The man had an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

Deputies began lifesaving efforts before Englewood Fire Department and Charlotte County Fire & EMS personnel arrived, according to the department. The victim later died.

Investigators found a handgun on a table in the garage, the sheriff’s office said.

Voight was taken to the sheriff’s office for questioning. Detectives said his account of the shooting did not match evidence gathered during the investigation.

Voight was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder, not premeditated. The sheriff’s office said he was being held at the Charlotte County Jail without bond.

The victim has not been identified. The investigation remains ongoing.
